Das Hasso-Plattner-Institut ergänzt mit Unterstützung des Brandenburger Landesministeriums für Bildung, Jugend und Sport das Angebot der Schulen durch drei eigene Arbeitsgemeinschaften für Mädchen und Jungen. Diese Arbeitsgemeinschaften bilden das HPI-Schülerkolleg und fördern interessierten und begabten Nachwuchs auf dem Gebiet der modernen Informationstechnologien und ihrer Grundlagen aus Mathematik und Informatik. Ziel ist es, Jugendliche für ein Hochschulstudium der in den MINT-Fächern zu begeistern und ein Jahr lang darauf vorzubereiten.
